‘Bill’ as he was known, served in Wormley from 1930 and for the next 25 years was a well-known figure as he carried out the job of Village Constable for Wormley and Broxbourne.
His work earned him many commendations, including the 1939-45 Defence Medal, Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, and in 1953 he was awarded the Queen’s Coronation Medal for Meritorious Service.
Appointed 18th July 1927 and retired on 17th October 1955
