In the photograph, which was  taken in 1920 at Police Headquarters at Hatfield, is believed to be a mix of the 18th and 19th Probationer Classes who had as their Instructor Acting Sergeant 280 George Thomas Sharp.

General Orders 152 and 153 of the 26th August 1920 announced that a total of nine Recruit Constables having been brought on to the Roster, would be transferred from Headquarters to Divisions for duty. Those pictured are:

Back Row left to right:

1.    PC 182 Alexander Harry Reece was born on the 22nd June 1898 and served between the 31st May 1920 and 15th September 1947. He was first posted to B Division at Bishops Stortford. He died on the 1st May 1977.

2.    PC 6 Frederick Alfred Cook was born 21st July 1892 and was Appointed in 1920. He was first posted to D Division at Hemel Hempstead. He died on the 23rd February 1953.

3.    PC 208 Harold Lawrence was born on the 21st October 1899 and served between the 31st May 1920 and the 26th December 1945. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died on the 26th December 1945.

4.    PC 294 George Herbert Farr served between 1920 and the 19th October 1921. He was first posted to C Division at Watford.

5.    PC 63 William Charles Lowin was born on the 16th December 1895 and served between the 31st May 1920 and the 30th August 1953. He was first posted to A Division at Ware. He died on the 20th February 1962.

6.    PC 22 William David Drayton was born on the 16th October 1893 and swerved between the 31st May 1920 and the 30th May 1948. He was first posted to C Division at  Watford. He died on the 10th February 1970.

7.    PC 25 Albert Arthur Gilson was born on the 15th May 1895 and served between 1920 and 1926. He was first posted to D Division at Hemel Hempstead. He died on the 18th July 1959.

Front Row left to right:

1.    PC 85 Henry (but known as Harry)Thompson was born on the 2nd August 1895 and served between the 31st May 1920 and the 31st May1951. He was first posted to G Division at Harpenden. He died on the 12th August 1977.

2.    Instructor Sergeant 280 George Thomas Sharp.

3.    PC 245 Bert Reynolds served between 1920 and the 27th April 1921. He was first posted to B Division at Bishops Stortford.
