A Division Officers c. 1910

Paul Watts

Herts Police Historical Society

The above photograph consists entirely of A Division Officers and is believed to have been taken in 1910 although the location is not known. At this time the A or Ware Division included Ware (Superintendent station), Hoddesdon (Inspector station), Braughing, Broxbourne, Buntingford, Cottered, Hare Street, Hunsdon, Rye Common, St. Margaret’s, Standon, Wadesmill, Wareside and Wormley. The evidence for the date is that PC 183 Pusey is known to have been posted to A Division between June 1909 and June 1910 and the photograph may well have been taken to honour Superintendent Duke who retired at the end of March 1910.
