Death of Police Sergeant Beckwith.

Hertfordshire Mercury, 16th January 1915.

The funeral took place in Bishop’s Stortford cemetery on Friday, of the late P.S. Henry Edward Albert Beckwith, who died after a long illness, at the age of 39.  The deceased joined the County Constabulary on August 29, 1898  and for nearly four years had been stationed at Bishop’s Stortford.  Supt R.T. Foster and 18 Constables preceded the coffin and P.S.’s Elderton (Bishop’s Stortford), Prior (Sawbridgeworth), Lee (Much Hadham), and Tucker (Stanstead) acted as bearers.  The mourners were the widow, and two little sons, Mrs and Miss Foster and Colonel Healey C.M.G.. Wreaths were sent by Supt and Mrs Foster, the Sergeants and Constables of the Bishop’s Stortford Division, the officers and men of the Hertford Division, and the officers and men of the Ware Division.  The Rev. C. L. White, vicar of Holy Trinity, officiated.
