This photograph was sent to the Hertfordshire Police Historical Society by Andrew Smith, the grandson of PC 210 Frederick Thomas Smith. The Records of Service for Constables Ling, Rowe and Thomson are all  endorsed  that they were  in Class 43 with PS 6 Cook as their Instructor. The remaining Constables were most probably also in the same class.

1.    Constable 94 Thomas Edward Ling was born on the 12th December 1909 and served from 31st July 1930 to 31st July 1952 when he retired on a medical pension being unfit for further Police Service. He was first posted to E Division at Stevenage.  His Form 3  Record of Service has survived and is endorsed that he was in Class 43 with Sgt 6 Cook as his Instructor.  Thomas Edward Ling died on the 12th August 1974.

2.    Constable 210 Frederick Thomas Smith was born on the 28th May 1904 and served from the 26th July 1930 to a date before 26th March 1938. His warrant number was issued to a PC Arthur William Ludlow on that date. Frederick Thomas Smith died on the 26th November 1948 as a Sergeant in the Royal Military Police.

3.    Believed to be Constable 98 (could be 68 photo is not clear) William Henry Slade Newlyn who was born on the 1st February 1910. His Form 3 Record of Service has not survived but other sources show he served between the 26th July 1930 (the same as PC 210 Smith) and a date before 1939 as he is shown as an Oiled Silk Machinist in the 1939 Register. He died in 1998.

4.    Constable 105 George Rowe was born on the 25th May 1908 and served from the 31st March 1930 to 10th August 1955. He was first posted to D Division at Hemel Hempstead.  His Form 3  Record of Service has survived and is endorsed that he was in Class 43 with Sgt 6 Cook as his Instructor.  George Rowe died on the 1st August 20..

1.    Constable 48 Frederick Legge was born on the 6th March 1908 and served from the 31st March 1930 to 25th February 1956. He was first posted to D Division at Tring.  His Form 3  Record of Service has not survived. He was promoted to Sergeant on the 1st October 1949. He died on the 7th March 1967.

2.    Constable 131 Horace Alfred Thomson was born on  the 6th July 1907′ and served between  the 31st March 1930 to 19th October 1955. He was first posted to D Division at Berkhamsted.  His Form 3  Record of Service has survived and is endorsed that he was in Class 43 with Sgt 6 Cook as his Instructor.  He was promoted to Sergeant on the 6th June 1939.  Horace Alfred Thomson died on the 1st November 1982.

4.   Believed to be Constable 68 (could be 98 photo is not clear) Clarence Reba Baker who was born on the 20th July 1908. His Form 3 Record of Service has not survived but other sources show he served between the 26th July 1930 (the same as PC 210 Smith) and the 30th March 1955. He died on the 23rd August 1962.
