In the photograph, which was taken in late 1920 or early 1921 at Police Headquarters at Hatfield, is the 20th Probationer Class who had as their Instructors Sergeant 280 George Thomas Sharp and an unknown Sergeant from E Division.
General Orders 14 of the 26th January 1921 and 31 of the 25th February 1921 announced that a total of eleven Recruit Constables having been brought on to the Roster, would be transferred from Headquarters to Divisions for duty. It has not been possible to identify all those pictured, but the following have been:

1. PC 333 Edward Victor Long served from 1920 until before 1938. He was first posted to E Division at Stevenage

4. PC 321 William Christopher Spencer was born on the 1st December 1898 and he served between 1920 and the 3rd January 1939. He was first posted to G Division at Harpenden. He died in 1979.
5. PC – unknown.
6. PC – unknown.
7. PC 326 John Monaghan served between 1920 and the 26th May 1921. He was first posted to G Division at Harpenden.
Front Row left to right:
1. PC 74 Arthur Claude Rogers served between 1920 and the 22nd October 1926. He was first posted to C Division at Watford.
2. PC – unknown.
3. Instructor unknown E Division Sergeant.
4. Instructor Sergeant 280 George Thomas Sharp.

The following seven Constables appear in the General Orders and are assumed to be the unknown Officers in the photograph.
1. PC 109 Archibald Turner was born on the 3rd September 1897 and served between the 4th October 1920 and the 1st April 1945. He was first posted to G Division at Harpenden.
2. PC 170 Robert Henley Thetford was born on the 26th January 1897 and served between the 4th October 1920 and the 21st November 1949. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died on the 8th April 1962.
3. PC 309 Donald James Tansley was born on the 10th January 1899 and served between 1920 and the 13th July 1944. He was first posted to F Division at Hertford. He died in 1969.
4. PC 334 George Alfred Jeffery was born on the 10th July 1900 and served between the 4th October 1920 and the 25th November 1946. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died in 1997.
5. PC 335 John Hubert Farr was born on the 3rd August 1895 and served between the 4th October 1920 and the 25th November 1951. He was first posted to G Division at Hatfield. He died in 1958.
6. PC 336 Ernest Catlin served between 1920 and the 3rd May 1922. He was first posted to C Division at Watford.
7. PC 337 Edward Victor Barker was born on the 7th February 1901 and served between the 4th October 1920 and the 10th October 1952. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died in 1993.
