Theft of a clergyman's overcoat

Transcript

Charles Worley, 45, coachman, pleaded not guilty to stealing an overcoat, value £3 10s., the property of the Rev. R.V.G. Shaw, vicar of St Paul’s, Langleybury, on January 21st.

Mr Murphy prosecuted.

P.C. Pitcher said that when prisoner was arrested he said he did not steal the coat but had pawned it for somebody else.

After evidence had been given, prisoner was found guilty and sentenced to three months’ hard labour.
