Penal servitude for theft at Broxbourne

Transcript

Arthur Watson, 23, labourer, pleaded guilty to stealing an overcoat, valued at 18s., the property of John Edward Pitman, at Broxbourne, on June 2nd, and with stealing a bicycle, valued at £5, at Kettering on June 1st.

Mr Forrest Fulton, who prosecuted, said the prisoner stole the bicycle, rode away with it as far as Broxbourne, and then took the coat and was arrested at Cheshunt.

Previous convictions were proved and prisoner was sentenced to three years’ penal servitude.
