Runaway reformatory boys

Transcript

Thomas Cole, 14, of 50 Canal Road, Mile End, London an inmate of the Herts Reformatory School, Bengeo, was charged on remand with being concerned with another Reformatory boy, Henry William Heath, with stealing a coat and vest, valued at 1s.6d., the property of Benjamin Johnson, and a coat, value 1s., the property of Walter Geaves, at Standon, on August 3rd.

P.S. Males, of Ware, gave evidence of arrest.  Supt Duke said in view of the fact that the other boy concerned in the robbery had not been apprehended he asked that the case be adjourned sine die, and that the prisoner be handed over to Mr Fish, Superintendent of the Reformatory. This request was acceded to, and in answer to the Bench, Supt Duke said the other boy, who was still at large, was about 17 years of age.
