Transcript

At St Albans Quarter Sessions, Annie Wilson, 51 was indicted for obtaining by false pretences from Lilian Bird the sum of 4 shillings, with intent to defraud at Watford on 10th February, and for similarly defrauding Mary Bailey of Watford of 3 shillings 6 pence on the same date.  She pleaded guilty.

It was explained to the Court that there was a long list of similar convictions against her covering a period of some 10 years, in all parts of the country.

As she was wanted for similar offences in several other places at the present time, the Court sentenced her to 3 years’ penal servitude.
