Boys ordered the birch

At a Children’s Court, Stanley Huckle (13), Ernest Moulton (12), and Geoffrey Hart (12), schoolboys, of Hatfield, were summoned for stealing a watch, a knife, a lamp, and a case, valued at £1 14s. 6d.

Evidence was given that the lads took the articles from the Soldiers’ Reading Room at Hatfield.

The Bench ordered Moulton to receive six strokes with the birch rod, and Huckle and Hart three each.
