The pony was in charge!

At Ware Petty Sessions, Robert George Smith, of East Street, Ware, was charged with being drunk whilst in charge of a pony and cart in the Wadesmill Road at 10:30pm on 7th July.

Police Constable Hall said that he had met the defendant’s pony walking along the road and the defendant was found to be lying in the cart.  He asked the defendant to get out and walk but found that he was drunk.

The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined 2s 6d.
