Stop the world:I want to get off

Hertfordshire Mercury, 17th June 1916

At Cheshunt Petty Sessions, Joseph John Williamson, of Bulls Cross, Enfield, a labourer, was fined 21 shillings for having been drunk and disorderly at 12.30 p.m. on 3rd June, at Church Lane, Cheshunt.

P.C. Phipps told the Bench that he had heard the man shouting “I’m the man to stop the war.  I’m not afraid of Zeppelins or anything else”.
