A bit 'rocky'

Hertfordshire Mercury, 18th December 1915

Transcript

At Welwyn Petty Sessions on Friday, John Cox, of Hobbs Hill, Welwyn, a carter, was charged with being drunk and disorderly at Welwyn on December 6th, 1915.

Ps Wood, of Welwyn, said that at 6.35 p.m. on Monday last, he met the defendant coming from Mr Davis’ yard.  He stated Cox was using filthy language and rolling about in the road. He was drunk and could scarcely stand. The witness took him into custody.

The defendant said he was very sorry for what he had done; he might have been a bit ‘rocky’ but he was not drunk.

The Magistrates imposed a fine of 5 shillings.
