Drunk in charge of a child

At Cheshunt Petty Sessions, John Macer, a munitions worker, together with Florence Macer, both of Meadow Place, Hoddesdon, were charged with being drunk whilst in charge of a child under the age of 7 years.

Inspector Moles said that, at about 12.30 a.m. on 1st May, he had found the defendants lying asleep on the grass on the Fish and Eels Road, Hoddesdon, with a child lying between them.

He awoke them, found that both adults were drunk, and had them all taken to the Police Station.

The Bench fined the man 21 shillings, and the woman 5 shillings.
