Did the soldiers acquire a dog for a mascot?

On Wednesday 5th May 1915, Miss Markham of The Boars Head PH reported that her Fox Terrier bitch, which was white in colour with one black ear, was missing. Unfortunately it did not have a collar. She seemed to think that some soldiers had taken her with them when they left for Hertford this morning. P.C. Briden noted this, and transmitted the information to Hertford for them to make some enquiries.
