Leading a bull without a pole

Ernest Ashby, of Digswell, was summoned for leading a bull without a pole at Welwyn. PS Ebling stated that the defendant was leading a bull along Church Street at twenty minutes to six in the evening without a pole, but he had a rope attached to it. The bull was fifteen months old. On being questioned by witness, defendant said he did not know he had to have a pole on a bull. The Bench ordered  him to pay the costs, 6s. 6d.
