Austin Montego C78 XRW

The Force occasionally tried out factory demonstration cars, some of which were later offered for purchase at a favourable price. This was helpful to the Garage Manager’s budget, especially when in-service cars were written off in crashes and money had to be found for a replacement.
One such car was this blue Austin Montego 1.6 which was purchased and marked as an Area Car for use at Hertford. As far as I know, this was the only example of this model that found its place in our fleet.
