The Chief Constable of the county of Hertford has granted Special Constables permission to join the ranks of the Volunteer Training Corps, with the proviso that such Volunteer Training Corps must be situated within the boundary of their Special Constabulary Sectional area. In special cases the permission may be extended to the adjoining areas. This permission is granted on the condition that it will be the first duty of Special Constables whenever required by the police Authorities, to carry out the defence work for which they have been organized as Special Constables and to which the military and Home office authorities attach great importance.
The Chief Constable reserves the right to have all Special Constables joining Volunteer Training Corps formed into separate sections, platoons, or corps, as the case may be, so that in the event of a state emergency arising they may be ready to act as separate units.
