The last straw - highway offence

Alfred Winters, of 187 Cheshunt Street, Cheshunt, was fined 2s.6d. for riding asleep at Hoddesdon on September 18th.

P.C. Brace said that, at 9.15 p.m. on September 18th, defendant was asleep on a load of straw in High Street, Hoddesdon.

In three other similar cases the defendants, who were old offenders, did not appear and the Bench adjourned the cases for a fortnight and issued warrants for the defendants’ appearance.
