Lack of control

Hertfordshire Mercury, 8th May 1915

At Cheshunt Petty Sessions William Sanders, of Old Road, Enfield Highway, was summoned for not having control over a horse and cart at Cheshunt on April 21.

P.C. Cassie said that at 8.20 p.m. he was in Turner’s Hill, when he saw a horse and cart straying without anyone in charge.

The witness walked the horse towards the Police Station, and when against Windmill Lane the defendant ran up and claimed the animal.

He said he had dropped his whip and went to look for it when the horse walked away, but he had not a whip in his possession when he came up to the witness.  Fined 1s..
