At Cheshunt Petty Sessions, Peter Bjorkland, of Dewhurst Road, Cheshunt, was summoned for riding a bicycle without a light, and also, under the Defence of the Realm Act, for not having a rear red light, at Cheshunt, on May 8. The defendant pleaded guilty. PC Martin said that on the night in question he stopped the defendant in High Street. His front lamp was out, and he had no rear light. Fined 2s. in each case.
Ernest Johnson, of Melbourne Road, Waltham Cross, was summoned for an offence against the Defence of the Realm Act, 1914, by riding a bicycle without a rear red light at Waltham Cross on May 15. The defendant did not appear, but sent a letter apologising for his absence. PC Cassie proved the case, and the defendant was fined 3s., or five days.
Harry Haigh, of Alexandra Road, Waltham Cross, was summoned for riding a bicycle without a light at Waltham Cross on May 21. He was further summoned under the Defence of the Realm Act, for not having a lighted rear red light. The defendant did not appear. PS Oliver stated the facts, and fines of 3s. and 2s. were imposed.
