At Buntingford Police Court on 20th December, George Hart (47), labourer, of Braughing, was charged with being in arrears for industrial school payments in respect of his two children. The defendant did not appear.
Supt C.H. Handley said an order was made on the defendant on 12th July 1916, at the Dunmow Bench, in respect of 2 of his children, 2s a week for George Hart in the Essex Industrial School, and a similar weekly sum for his daughter Ethel Emily Hart, in the Princess Mary Industrial School.
At the time of the Order he lived at Great Camfield, Essex, and was subsequently lost sight of and eventually found at Braughing. He did pay a certain amount irregularly, but had not paid anything from August 10th to November 30th of the present year.
The claim was for 17 weeks, £1 14s in each case. There were no goods to distrain upon, and he asked for a commitment Order. The Bench granted the Order of one month in each case, to run concurrently.
