Kindness indeed
Hertfordshire Mercury, 11th January 1913
Transcript
At the Watford Police Court on Tuesday, a man named Gordon, of Bushey, who was sent to imprisonment by the Bench some time ago, walked up to the front of the Court and addressed the Magistrates.
He said “Thank you very much for your three months’ imprisonment, because it has converted me to the opinion that I have long held, that eight out of every ten criminals in this country are manufactured. Will you grant me that?”
Upon leaving the Court, the man bowed and said “Your kindness is worthy of my warmest thanks.”
