    Halsey, George Anthony, 16, Constable, Sergeant, Detective Inspector
    George Halsey left school at 15 and joined the Merchant Navy sailing the world. In 1936 at the age of 22 he joined Hertfordshire Constabulary. In May 1943 he joined the Royal Naval Reserve and served on Minesweepers at a Lieutenant. In December 1945 he re-joined the Police. He was commended several times retiring in 1966 as a Detective Inspector after 30 years service.

    Wood, Arthur, 172, Police Constable, Sergeant.
    Having served as Private 7756 in the Coldstream Guards he joined Hertford County Constabulary in 1893. Recalled to the Colours on 9th October 1899 he saw action in South Africa before contracting rheumatic fever and enteric fever and being invalided home. Recovering he re-joined the Constabulary and retired as a Sergeant.

    Having served as Private 3172 in the 16th (The Queen's) Lancers and the 12th (The Prince of Wales') Royal Regiment of Lancers he joined the Hertford County Constabulary in 1898. He was recalled to the Colours on 13th November 1899 during the Boer War, where it is believed he served as a Drill Instructor. He re-joined the Police and retired as a Sergeant.
