Feeling the lamp - case dismissed

Transcript

Robert Dearman , of 98, Burford Street, Hoddesdon , pleaded guilty to riding a bicycle without a light at Hoddesdon on September 28th. – P.c. Brace stated that at 10.45 p.m. on Thursday , September  28th ,  he saw defendant on a bicycle in the High Street , Hoddesdon , without a light.

Defendant said his light had just gone out when the Constable stopped him.  He asked the Constable to feel his lamp , but he did not do so. – The Constable denied that defendant asked him to feel the lamp .

The Chairman said the Bench would give the defendant the benefit of the doubt and dismiss the case . The police ought to feel the lamp in this sort of case.
