In the photograph, which is believed to have been taken in early 1919 at Police Headquarters at Hatfield, is Probationer Class 13, the first Recruit Constables to be trained after the end of WW1. They had as their Instructors Constable 280 George Thomas Sharp and Acting Sergeant 161 Ethelbert Maskell.

General Order 93 of the 13th April 1919 announced that eight Recruit Constables, all having been brought on to the Roster, would be transferred from Headquarters to Divisions for duty. Those pictured are believed to be:

Back Row Left to Right:

1.    PC 14 Chales Stanley Hollands was born on the 2nd November 1892 and served between the 10th February 1919 and the 15th January 1943. He was first posted to E Division at Hitchin. He died on the 15th January 1943.

2.    PC 154 Frederick Hagger was born on the 26th April 1886 and served between the 11th July 1914 and the 21st July 1939. His Probation Training was interrupted by WW1. He was first posted to E Division at Hitchin. He died in 1967.

3.    PC 122 John Robert Rogers was born on the 2nd June 1891 and served between 22nd July 1914 and the 21st July 1939. His Probation Training was interrupted by WW1. He was first posted to E Division at Hitchin. He died on the 10th December 1956.

4.    PC 2 Ernest Frederick Haines was born on the 27th September 1895 and served between the 30th January 1919 and the 31st December 1945. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died on the 29th April 1960.

5.    PC 123 Harry Watson was born on the 28th February 1896 and served between the 30th January 1919 and the 23rd March 1921. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died in 1974.

1.    PC 138 Abel Camp was born on the 15th December 1895 and served between the 30th January 1919 and the 30th September 1961. He was first posted to D Division at Hemel Hempstead. He died on the 1st March 1968.

2.    Instructor Constable 280 George Thomas Sharp.

3.    Instructor Acting Sergeant 161 Ethelbert Maskell.

4.    PC 20 Herbert Thomas Farrer was born on the 12th December 1891 and served between the 2n July 1914 and the 11th April 1923. His Probationer Training was interrupted by WW1. He was first posted to A Division at Hoddesdon. He died in 1954.

5.    PC 46 Alfred Skeggs was born on the 20th March 1892 and served between the 30th January 1919 and the 17th May 1950. He was first posted to C Division at Watford. He died on the 10th July 1969.
