This photograph is believed to be Recruit Class 41 and includes the first two Hertfordshire women Police Constables, sisters Margaret and Annie Johnson.
With regards to the male officers the following is known. Constable’s Kemp, Newcomb and Wood have all been identified in the photograph by their Warrant numbers. Their Police Service Records were all endorsed that they had been in Class 41 and they were all Appointed on the 4th June 1928.
Constable’s Dale, Frewin and Foxon were also Appointed on the 4th June 1928 and have been identified in the photograph.
Constable 49 Alick Arthur Ritchie’s Service Record was also endorsed with Class 41 and again he was Appointed on 4th June 1928, but it has not been possible to identify him in the photograph.
Three further Constable’s remain unidentified. The significance of the two trophy cups and the shield is not known.
