Caught using a catapult

Hertfordshire Mercury, 11th January 1913

Transcript

At Much Hadham Petty Sessions on Saturday, George Petchey, a youth from Albury, was summoned for using a catapult to the danger of persons on the highway.

P.C. Gravestock stated that on the 23rd December 1912, at 11.40 a.m., he was on duty on the highway between Little Hadham and Albury, when he saw the defendant in a field using a catapult and discharging a stone on the highway.

Mr Frank Harvey was riding along the road, and the defendant put the catapult into his pocket.  P.C. Gravestock went over to him and took possession of the catapult.

George pleaded guilty.  The Chairman of the Petty Sessions ordered that the catapult be given to the Superintendent for safe keeping and let the youth off with a warning.
