Foster, Mrs

The Assizes at Hertford commenced on Thursday before Mr Baron Graham and Mr Baron Wood. Before them the bill against Benjamin Foster for the murder of his wife, by beating and kicking her when in a state of pregnancy, was thrown out by the grand jury ; the prisoner was then tried on the Coroner’s inquisition for manslaughter, and acquitted; the surgeons not proving that the prisoner’s violence was the cause of his wife’s death.
