Murder of Alice Hurry

On the 1st December 1751, Alice Hurry, the bastard daughter of Thomas Hurry and Alice Andrew, was murdered in Northaw.

The parents were to stand trial for the murder and on the 18th March 1752 a dual execution took place where the two accused were “turned off” (executed).

The executions took place in Hertford on “Gallows Hill”.
