The police pillars, as well as a few brick built police boxes, were still in use at St Albans between 1962 and 1965.
Some pillars were like the one shown but others were a more “modern” design, being rectangular.
1. The Police Pillar/phone would have been situated in St Albans when they had a City Force – Herts County did not use such pillars.
The photo does not enlarge so the writing cannot be deciphered. Suggest another look at the picture.
That’s not a 1950’s police box that’s 1932.
