Read more George Halsey left school at 15 and joined the Merchant Navy sailing the world. In 1936 at the age of 22 he joined Hertfordshire Constabulary. In May 1943 he joined the Royal Naval Reserve and served on Minesweepers at a Lieutenant. In December 1945 he re-joined the Police. He was commended several times retiring in 1966 as a Detective Inspector after 30 years service.
