Women at War

Not everyone went to war in 1914.  Women were not expected to fight, but they did help the war effort at home.  Many took on difficult and dangerous working in factories or became farm workers, tram drivers and postal workers.  After the war, women's lives were never the same again because they had proved that they could do men's work.  The struggle for women's rights took a leap forward.
