Norton Motorcycles for Traffic Duties

Brian Homans

Following over 20 years of Triumphs, the next motorcycles used for Traffic duties from the early 1970’s were the Norton 850cc Commando Interpol. The first bikes we had with electric start!
Seen here at an Inspection parade at the Eastern Traffic Base, Hertford c1974, is the ETB Motorcycle Squad with Sergeant 27 Bill Hall just in the left of the photo and Chief Constable Raymond Buxton.

  • 1) Its HQ parade ground not the eastern Traffic base note the cadet quarters in the background
    2) Think the officer second from the building is John Pooley who was at the ETB along with PS Hall
