At an inquest held at Bengeo on 26 July 1608 before Charles North, Coroner on the body of John Turner, the jury found that on 21 July 1608 at Waterford Marsh, Bengeo; Turner and Thomas Sticklinge of Ware, a yeoman, were taking part in a game of football. In the course of the game Sticklinge accidentally thrust his knee into Turner’s belly inflicting injuries from which he immediately died.
The jury returned a verdict of misadventure.
