    On the outbreak of WW1 he joined the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment. He fought at Gallipoli and in Egypt and Palestine being promoted to Colour Sergeant and awarded the Military Medal. On being demobbed he joined the Hertfordshire Constabulary and was commended 3 times by the St. Albans Coroner.

    Wilson, Frederick James, 90, Constable
    At 19 years old he joined the Coldstream Guards in 1932 and served for 4 years until 1936. He joined Hertfordshire Constabulary in 1937 and on the outbreak of WW2 in 1939, as a reservist, he was recalled to the colours. He was compulsorily transferred to the Corps of the Military Police and served in the Middle East until 1945, reaching the rank of Sergeant. On leaving the Army he re-joined Hertfordshire Constabulary but was forced to retire on medical grounds in 1950. He died in 1950 aged 37.
