Fire At The Maltings Bishops Stortford
From: Officer's Journal; PC Joseph SmithPC Smith attended the scene of a fire at Messr’s Miller’s Maltings in South Street Bishops Stortford.
(This was a substantial fire which caused a lot of damage and was reported in the Herts and Essex Observer on the 20th May. It was apparently caused by the overheating of the Malt but was subsequently extinguished by the local Fire Brigade who had been formed less than 2 years previously and this was the first fire they had dealt with Ed).
