Copy of Route from Cambridge Borough Police 4th July 1902 Wanted on warrant for stealing a gent’s light Roadster free wheel bicycle on 21st June 1902. 24 in frame, flat handle bars, gear about 76, ½ inch pitch chain, Clipper tyre back wheel, Palmer tyre front wheel, value £6.0.0. Ernest Spicer, alas Ernest Smith, age 24, Place of Birth Peterboro., single, a painter, complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes brown, height 5ft 3½, medium build, round face, scar over right eye, scar right forearm. Dress: grey check trousers, fancy flannel jacket, cloth cap, white collar and tie. This man has been previously convicted at Norwich and Northampton and may be wanted elsewhere. This man has been at work in this town for about 6 weeks as a painter and on the evening of 21st June he went to a cycle shop under the pretence of buying a bicycle, he got on the machine to try it and then rode away and has not been seen since.
