From: Supt. Shore To: All Stations Stolen by burglary during night of 6th inst. from the Hertford Union Workhouse, 3 sovereigns, 4 very old 5s/= pieces, several packets containing small amounts of money belonging to inmates with their name and date of entry and amount written thereon, and 10s/= in silver. Entrance effected by forcing window with a jemmy or chisel about 1 in wide. The desk and two cash boxes from the office were forced with an ½ in jemmy or chisel. Please cause enquiries to be made.Police officer
