Suspected Thief Israel Rockett - Royston
From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Deputy Chief Constable of Herts to Inspector Gobbett Newmarket – A tramp named James Brown, a bootmaker, is detained at Royston for having in his possession a watch & chain which he has offered for sale and are supposed stolen, gents silver lever watch No. 816 makers name James Sims Stockport, long chain silver, he states he bought the watch & chain at Newmarket about three years ago but from who he does not know, he lodged at Palace Street Newmarket for the past 3 nights and left there yesterday via Cambs, please let me know if you have any watches stolen reply by telephone. He now gives the name of Israel Nathaniel Rockett and that he stole the watch from the Newmarket Road Cambridge.
