From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Police Saffron Walden Essex to Superintendent Martin – Wanted for violent assault on Police at Clavering this morning Arthur Cakebread of Clavering a labourer age 30, 5 ft 6 1/2, hair dark brown, eyes grey, complexion fresh, dark moustache, he is a convict on licence and has a wound on left side of head inflicted this morning, also Walter Cakebread, his brother, age about 20, both are also wanted on Warrant for non payment of fine for poaching.

[Herts & Cambs Reporter & Royston Crow 20 November 1903 – Walter Cakebread was sentenced to 9 months with hard labour. Arthur Cakebread was sentenced to complete serving 272 days of a previous sentence and then a further 18 months of hard labour for the assault Ed.]
