From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Inspector Gardiner to Bishops Stortford – Stolen last night by burglary from the Talbot Inn North Weald £3.10 in gold, £2.3.6 in silver and copper, a 29 ct gold chain, 2 gold broaches one has small ball the other plain, one lady’s 9 ct gold neck chain plain cross attached, one lady’s tan leather purse containing 13/- mixed coins, 2 halfpenny stamps, watch key and return ticket from North Weald to Liverpool Street, one silver top pencil case, half an eye glass, one gents fawn mackintosh overcoat plaid lining mud stains around bottom, one bottle scotch whiskey with Sutton – Candle on label City of London.
