From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Wood to All Stations – Copy of message from Chelmsford Police – Absconded from the Essex Industrial School Chelmsford today two lads 1st Charles Edward Cann 12 yrs, 4 ft 5, fair complexion, hair light, [unreadable Ed.], scar over each eye, 2nd Albert Charles Gosling age 12, 4 ft 8, freckle complexion, very light hair almost yellow, blue eyes, both wearing school clothes corduroy trousers and waist coat, blue jersey and [unreadable Ed.] Gosling is a native of Watford. Rewards and [unreadable Ed.] will be paid for [unreadable Ed.] apprehension. {Later overwritten with ‘Arrested’ Ed.]
