At 8.45 pm, Mr. Crisp, Greengrocer of London Road reported that at about 7:30 pm, a tall tramp wearing a light cap called in his shop and asked for a piece of bread. Some few minutes afterwards a cash box containing between 4/s & 5/s was missed from the shop. It is uncertain as to whether this tramp could be identified. Enquiries was [were] immediately made by Sergt. 138 & Supt. Foster, but owing to a description not being able to be given of the above tramp, he was not to be found or either to be traced.Police officer
