Theft Of A Females Jacket
From: Officer's Journal; PC Joseph SmithPC Smith went to see a Fanny Hudgell, a single woman, of Birchanger Green who complained that during the night of the 17th February 1882 she had a jacket stolen from her house. PC Smith then went to the house of a Charles Turner in Bishops Stortford and recovered the jacket. Turner said that his wife’s brother, John Bush of Bishops Stortford, had left it there. The jacket was later identified by Fanny Hudgell. PC Smith later arrested John Bush and charged him with the robbery.
