Stray horse and cart on London Road
From: Officers' Journal; W R Stevens PC 60; Ar...PC Stevens missed the nightly conference at Bull North End railway station on account of finding a stray horse and cartload of hay bearing the name “H Pomfret Hazel End” on London Road, going in the direction of London. PC Stevens endeavours to find the driver of the cart and failing, puts up the horse at the White Lion PH. Eventually he finds out that the driver of the cart was John Barrow of Birchanger, Essex.
