PC Smith made enquiries regarding a purse lost by the Reverend Vander-Meluen which had been found by two 8 year old boys, Alfred Faircloth and Herbert Hall, both of New Town Bishops Stortford unfortunately they had spent some of the money it contained.

PC Smith was ordered to take a prisoner Thomas Hudgel, who was charged with a felony, to St Albans Prison.
