    THE THEFTS VEHICLES IN ESSEX. ACCUSED CHARGED AT BISHOP STORTFORD. Yesterday, at Bishop Stortford Police-court, before G. Alan Lowndes, Esq., and other magistrates, Charles Moore and Frederick Hale, hailing from London, were charged with stealing pony and cart, &c., value £24, the property of Mrs. Sarah Headley, landlady of the Feathers Inn, Bishop Stortford. Mr. Richardson appeared for Hale. Moore and Hale were committed for trial.

    BISHOP STORTFORD CASES AT THE HERTS ASSIZE. The Herts Summer Assize opened Hertford Friday before Mr. Justice Mathew.
    ROBBERY OF PONY AND TRAP Charles Moore, 28, labourer, and Fredk. Hall, 24, painter, were charged with stealing pony, gig, cushions, harness, etc., the property of Mrs. Sarah Headley, of the Feathers Inn, Bishop Stortford, on December 3. The pony and gig were hired and never returned. The pony had since been recovered in Surrey. Moore admitted the offence and was sent to hard labour for ten months. Hall was found not guilty.

  • My great great grandfather Frederick Hale was wrongfully accused for theft of a pony cart on 24 April 1896. He was on trial but found not guilty. I’m trying to find out more about the circumstances.
