From: D.C.C. Hitchin To: All Stations Hired at Hitchin at 11:15 pm 19th inst. for five hours, from Messrs. Appleby & Green cycle agents, a gent Hudsons Roadster bicycle, No. 66217 on pillow transfer, new Hudsons 26 inch frame, flat handle bars, tyres – tyres Hudsons, ½ inch French roller chain, a chronicle free wheel, crabbs pattern, front brake usual brass plated, no tool bag, no lamp, pump fastened on down tube, value £7. By a man of unknown age, 25 ys., height 5ft 7 inches, thin featured, dress – blue serge suit, blue cloth cap. Stated he was staying at the Cricketers P.H., Ickleford.
